On Monday, April 28th, Dickie Cox & Dough Leckie‘s [2nd] year studio presented their final project gallery-style in the Crit Room (401). As previously mentioned, the final project consisted of creating a piece of furniture for adults that also had a form of play for children. Just like the previous project, the class was broken down into three groups with each group rotating per hour. Both instructors discussed with each student about their project. Other instructors stopped by the viewing, such as Tommy Lambeth, Stoel Burrowes, and Matt Jones. [2nd] year did a great job for this final project. It was exciting to see what type of furniture was chosen and how each of us developed our play. Below, are some of the pieces from the project.
On Tuesday, April 29th, [1st] year studio presented their final project. Their last project was very interesting, as it revolved around devising a creation story after conducting an initial precedent study about an existing culture and then constructing a mask to represent that culture. The creation story was later embodied into a full body “mask” based on the story. Their stories were very interesting and entertaining, or as Tommy Lambeth put it “very poetic”. Along with Tommy, [2nd] year studio, Dickie Cox, Doug Leckie, Hannah Mendoza, and Travis Hicks were also present.
