The finalists for the 2014 IIDA Carolinas Scholastic Award were Alex Pokas and Monica Browning from UNCG’s IARc, as well as Lindsey Gerlock from Anderson University in South Carolina. Contestants had to be nominated and evaluated by a faculty member, as well as, had to submit a page description of their involvement in interior design, a 300-500 word essay on “why interior design?”.  Once chosen, the three finalists were interviewed at the Gensler office in Charlotte. The winner was Lindsey Gerlock from Anderson University, who received a $2000 prize. All the finalists were honored on March 28th at Design Works in Greenville, SC, where some of their student work was displayed. We think it’s awesome that out of all the contestants in the North Carolina and South Carolina, two of IARc’s [4th] years were finalists!  Congratulations!
