[4th] Year Research Trip to Transportation Museum

February 9, 2014 § Leave a comment

Stephanie Brooker‘s [4th] year studio went on a research trip Friday to the Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC to learn about train stations and different types of trains. As a group, we traveled by train to gain the experience of riding in a train car.  This gave us some insight on what one would need to include when designing one. We also got to experience two different train stations on our journey, where we got a sense of what is common in each train station and what we could add to our designs to improve the experience. At the Transportation Museum, we learned about different types of train cars, as well as,  the process of restoring and repairing them. I think the experience of taking the train coupled with the information we learned at the Transportation Museum will prove to be very useful for both our train station and train car design that we will be working on throughout the semester.
