Bitter Sweet Sentiments

As the spring semester winds to an end, UNCG students and faculty will bid a fond farewell to one of their most beloved mentors and talented professors, Patrick Lee Lucas. On August 1st, Patrick will take on his new position as Director of the School of Interiors in the College of Design at the University of Kentucky. His commitments to faculty teaching and learning will continue through June.
When asked about his exciting new move, Patrick responded with following sentiments:
“UNCG has been a terrific place for me to be over the last 11 years. I appreciate the opportunities, particularly, to have learned and experimented with community-engaged research/scholarship, teaching, and service. I’ll carry those experiences forward from Greensboro to return to my hometown and the landscape of my youth. In doing so, I hope to continue contributing in meaningful ways to the world of design and to the education of young designers seeking their place and voice.”
Amidst all of the year-end business, I hope UNCG students will take the time to express their appreciation for Patrick, and wish him the best in his new venture.
There’s no better time for change than the spring. We wish all of the best to you, Patrick!
