Attention, IARc student designers: the Center for Visual Artists Gallery (CVA Gallery), located in downtown Greensboro, and Phillips Collection, a furniture manufacturer in High Point, NC, recently announced a co-sponsored design competition. The competition is a request for product prototypes, constructed of readily available materials (such as wood, metal, and glass), that are original, creative, and appropriate designs for Phillips Collection. The winning design will be manufactured and included in the Phillips Collection’s Fall Furniture Market showroom.
The prospectus states that the competition is open to all U.S. designers 18 and over, and submissions should be made by August 25, 2013. IARc students, this competition could bring you some great local and national exposure, and could make for an interesting summer project. For more information, check out the competition’s Facebook page:
CVA Gallery’s current exhibition is Kingdom: Animalia, featuring work by Daniel McClendon. Last year, Phillips Collection gained exposure for their Seat Belt Chair when it was featured in the movie The Hunger Games. IARc students, if you haven’t visited the CVA Gallery, check them out.
