This last Wednesday, 2/20/13, IARc hosted a mini-trade show, with representatives from 10 different Wall and Fixture companies.
Carnegie and Seabrook displayed textile wall coverings, that demonstrated how textiles can give space a softer feel. Interlam showed how architectural wall panels can add texture to a space. Barrisol introduced students to the endless possibilities of stretchable ceilings, like acoustic panels and lighting. Forms + Surfaces displayed a number of materials that are available for commercial design, while Hubble Lighting showed students how different types of lighting can affect the space. Benjamin Moore presented the newest trends in paint color, Marlite showed different options for wall systems, and Best tile presented a myriad of different options available with tile. Finally, Tiger leather introduced students to what can be done with leather beyond covering furniture.
Students in [2nd] year were particularly intrigued by all the options presented in this trade show because of all the applications to their residential project they’re currently working on. With all the available materials, students can be inspired by the options and move their ideas on to a whole new level of design.
