Developing Theory and Context

The IARc 502 Graduate students will move on this spring semester with self-directed studio projects. They recently presented their studio project proposals to their other class members and members of their graduate committees. In addition to each ten minute presentation, the students designed project booklets that documented the project’s intent, schedule, body of work, and the literature review done thus far.

The projects chosen by each graduate student have the potential for a comprehensive scope of investigation, and address significant theoretical issues. While some students chose design competitions and others created their own programming, every student will use their project to critically expand their thesis research and investigations.

On Friday, February 22, the graduate students will show more conceptual development of their studio projects during an interim review. The students will be presenting the following:

Lyndsey Blackmon – Investigating the Impact of Interior Environments on Major Depressive Disorders

Christine Lumans – Fabricating Light through Digital Fabrication

Majedeh Modarres – Exploring Sustainable Design Approaches in Hospitality Environments

Sangni Qu – Biophilic Interior Products for Children in Healthcare Environments
