[2nd] Year Project 2: The Home

February 10, 2013 § Leave a comment

As we move through the spring semester, the next topic that we as [2nd] year students are beginning to explore in studio is the home. We have been given the task of not only defining what the home means to us, but what is needed in the home. We are embarking on a new project of designing a home through exploring community living/learning centers. We had the pleasure of going to the Providence Apartments in Greensboro, NC to measure out the building shell in order to provide a framework for designing a new off-campus, privately owned residential example of a living learning environment. Many of us have never measured an entire space, but you can see the excitement building up from our thoughts of what to design. Our goal is to discover what is truly needed for it to become a home while supporting learning within a greater community.
