On the 26th of October the Center for Visual Arts Gallery opened the art & design exhibition. Alli McLeod, Shelly Gates and Beth Lowder,[2nd] Year, presented Cuckoo Clock. Teraesa Douglas, Elizabeth Leonard and Natalie Johnson,[2nd] Year, presented Bloom. Felicia Dean was invited to exhibit her vase Shorty Fat. “Jason Phillips served as this year’s juror. Jason is a designer and VP/Creative Director for The Phillips Collection; a well-known wholesaler of high end home furnishings. In 2007 he founded Jason Phillips Design, a brand that serves as a conduit for his out of the box design concepts and freelance work. In 2009 he became the youngest recipient of the prized Pinnacle Award and in 2010 was named Product Designer of the Year by A.R.T. That same year VERANDA magazine named him one of the top four up-and-coming designers in their inaugural ‘Art of Design’ Awards.” said Kristy Thomas the gallery Curator. Students attending UNCG, Greensboro College, Guilford College, NC A & T and Winston Salem State University submitted work to be considered for the 2012 Art & Design Student Exhibition. To be selected for a gallery is exciting experience for the [2nd] year’s to be recognized for their potential and a wonderful opportunity to show their hard work to the public.
