The New Adventures of an Intern: Morgan Cates, [3rd] year

September 2, 2012 § Leave a comment

As a [3rd] year IARc student, I knew coming into this semester that I could get an internship. The idea both excited and terrified me, but I took the initiative to keep my eyes pealed for opportunities. Through connections, I came into contact with Kathy Pendergras, the vice president of Interior Design at Alderman Company. I met with her a couple times and she hired me as their intern.
Over the past few weeks, I have been working with the designers to design the sets for one of their clients. Alderman has a huge prop room that seems to have anything and everything that you could possibly need in a shot, and when it comes to designing the sets, it all comes together so smoothly: a simple work request form and the set is ready to go. It’s truly exciting and I feel like I learn something new every time I go to work!
