Reaching the End: [2nd] year Final Critique

May 3, 2012 § Leave a comment

Based on culinary research, students in Stephanie Brooker’s [2nd] year studio, designed restaurant interiors for their final projects. Everyone was extremely proud of their projects, since it was the largest project they’ve had to date. I walked around and got a few statements from several students about how they transitioned from designing a smaller project to a larger one:

I was really happy with my final project. I didn’t realize how much work went into the process and how many details needed to be addressed. Regardless, I learned so much from this project and am glad I had this experience. – Morgan Cates

The project started with the program document, and that helped me a lot. It started with the basics. The activity of listing out elements and principles of design and how they would affect my restaurant was the most important part of it. My concept model helped greatly as well. I was really happy that we had a project of this caliber. – Ashley Bennet

My favorite part was learning 3D design programs. You see a space much clearer this way. My presentation was much nicer and a lot neater. I was surprised at how much I learned this semester. It’s amazing to see how far we have come as a whole. – Sarah Harris
