[1st] year block print project

October 18, 2011 § Leave a comment

This semester, [1st] year IARC students (taught by Tommy Lambeth) had the opportunity to create block prints based off of the work of fashion designers. The goal of the project was to provide a backdrop for the 2nd year fashion show that took place on October 6. After the prints were designed, each student was required to print on a 19X19 sheet of vellum. They took care to collaborate in order to decide the best placement of their prints on the windows of the Gatewood building lobby (where the fashion show took place), as well as a method of attachment. The concept of “disintegration” was a guiding factor, as students attached more prints near the bottom of the windows and fewer prints at the top. Below are images of their collaborative work.
