Material & Media Culture class in DC for a day

Professor Patrick Lucas’ IAR 552 class visited 7 Smithsonian museums in 7 hours on September 12. The class discussed how the curatorial methods differed based on the type of museum, either history, art or science. After a whirlwind tour, the students, both graduate and honors undergraduate in IArc and Art departments, compared the differences through the evaulation of 3 artifacts from each musuem type. Here’s a look at their day:
