Greensboro Beautiful Big Sweep

On Saturday, September 17, a group of IARC students in connection with UNCG’s IIDA chapter volunteered for Greensboro Beautiful’s annual Big Sweep citywide litter cleanup. We walked up and down Mendenhall Street, picking up trash from the road, sidewalks, and grass. Along the way, we enjoyed the various architectural styles of the old houses along Mendenhall. The event lasted from 9am to noon.

At noon, we deposited our trash bags at Memorial Stadium in downtown Greensboro, where other volunteers sorted through them and loaded them onto trucks. At the stadium, Greensboro Beautiful provided pizza, water bottles, and chocolate chip cookies as a kind “thank you” to all volunteers.
