Walking on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill

Jo Leimenstoll‘s [4th] year studio commuted to Chapel Hill, NC on Friday. Don Tise of Tise-Kiester Architects provided tours of his extraordinary home, offices, and a project completed by his firm. As the students are designing apartments for the Southeastern Building Project, his work on designing his home was of special interest to the class. In his office, he shared a wealth of information about the design process and interesting materials being used in current projects. They were also allowed a behind-the-scenes look at The Back Bar and The Great Room, additions to the Top of the Hill restaurant. This trip lent a lot of inspiration for the students, who are working toward their final critique from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Monday, April 23.
